10 original gifts any woman would want to get

Autor ZagrebCrafts / Tagovi

We’ve decided to go through the diverse Zagreb Crafts catalogue that encompasses the unique offer of Zagreb’s craftsmen and artisans and to single out ten original gifts that cater to any woman’s taste.

We’ve gone the extra mile to give you ten models that we wouldn’t mind owning ourselves.

1. Jewellery Lapidarium

Who doesn’t like having a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery? During our visit to Mario Nokaj, who took over the family’s long-standing jewellery tradition, we chose two pieces that intrigued us the most among the wide range of earrings, bracelets and necklaces. The bracelet Val and necklace Val are true masterpieces.

2. Magical bouqets by Spomenka Fabijanić – Floral shop Tea

It’s been a while since we’ve been so blown away by flowers until we visited Spomenka Fabijanić in floral shop Tea. A bouquet of roses that hasn’t withered even after eight months as opposed to classic one just goes to show the kind of art Spomenka creates with her flowers. Link to bouquet:

3. Shoes by Nataša Trinajstić – Shoemaker’s shop Zvonimir

Shoes that look like they were made by the world’s best designers are a prime example of classic women’s footwear. Nataša Trinajstić specialises in making women’s footwear you can have a look at in the Zagreb Crafts catalogue and we’ve chosen two pairs of shoes from her autumn collection

4. Cahun hats

This hatmaker’s shop located in the very heart of Zagreb is one of the oldest traditional shops. It has managed to weather all kinds of dire straits and to keep up with the latest trends. Given that women’s hats are once again a hit among young women, Cahun autumn collection will certainly leave you impressed. Although they cost a bit more, these pieces are bound to last for life.

5. Miniatures by Dominique Jurić – Atelier Staklić

Dominique Jurić has a profession you’ve probably never encountered. This academy-trained painter is the only one in Croatia who utilises the stained glass technique. She has created stained glass miniatures that work perfectly as gifts, souvenirs or interior decorations.  A different rendition of typical Zagreb motifs such as Kamenita vrata (Stone Gate) or Lotršćak tower that you’ll want to have.

6. Hippy Garden

Đurđica Vorkapić, who has for years now been making incredible clothing items worshipped by women of all ages, has become an indispensible name in Zagreb’s fashion scene. Her collections are world-known and we’ve singled out the Hippy Garden tunic and Hippy Garden purse you can have a look at here.

7. Fashion salon Dora

You just have to skim through their Instagram profile and, if by you’ve by any chance missed this salon that will change shortly because trench coats and coats made by Mirjana Rubić and her daughter Dora are truly unique. The New York Times included them in their 36 Hours in Zagreb and their distinct women’s clothing items will leave you breathless. Vesna and Marija Milković are well-known names in the Croatian ethno fashion scene. When making accessories, Ethno Mara uses traditional elements such as the Glagolitic script and has thereby turned into a recognisable brand in both Croatia and abroad. Velvet clutches or flat shoes are ideal for the fast-approaching cold weather.
