The recently held Advent, at the favourite Advent location of Ban Josip Jelačić Square, has housed about 20 Zagreb County craftsmen who offered their unique miniatures and handmade souvenirs at the stands.
With the head of the souvenir section at the Zagreb Chamber of Trades and Crafts, Danijela Halužan Glumbić, we have talked about the impressions from the 5th Advent of Zagreb Craftsmen. “This year we have complemented the already traditional Advent of craftsmen with an even more extensive entertainment program, which made this year more special than the previous ones”, Danijela, one of the organisers of Advent tells us, adding that this year the Advent of craftsmen was included in the program of the Zagreb Tourist Board, which gave them praises for the organisation.
“With the location below the clock, we were an attraction for visitors, and we attracted casual passersby with a daily entertainment program from 5 pm. We brought in various choirs, young bands, KUDs and a drama section from Zabok, and during the Advent, the mascot Mravac, representing the valuable hands of Zagreb artisans, moved around the square the entire time. Different from all the others, together with fourteen artisans, we have presented unique and special gifts and souvenirs to the local and foreign visitors, and we are especially proud of the reactions of the locals who mostly had positive comments”, she adds. “We want to be original, recognisable to locals and then tourists”, which is why they made daily live broadcasts on Zabavni Radio where they presented the fair through interviews and stories about craftsmen. Danijela Haluzan Glumbic, proud of the great engagement and effort of the section, concludes that they plan to further enrich the program with a number of novelties for the next year. The Advent of Zagreb Craftsmen was attended by craftsmen whose work you could see on the Zagreb Crafts portal, and some of the products you could buy at the Zagreb Crafts Shop in Ilica. If you missed their crafts, we have decided to present their work to you once again.
