Mladen Radovinović founded his bookbinding and photocopying craft in 1983. He completed a vocational high school specialising in economics, but it’s was his uncle who got him interested in this profession. His uncle helped him a lot to get the business going
About

Mladen’s brother, who lives abroad, assisted them financially when they were starting the business. The shop was located at 29 Bosanska Street at first, but it has changed several locations since then. For the past 20 years it’s been located at 55 Ilica Street. Mladen’s daughter Adriana and son Robert also work in the shop. Depending on the workload they also employ one or two workers. When his son Robert, who holds a degree in economics, started working in 2009, the shop went through somewhat of an upgrade.

“My father didn’t force me into this business so I grew fond of it without any pressure. I studied and worked simultaneously and my father listened to what I had to say regarding introducing new technologies and combining them with older ones. We introduced the digital print and I’m in charge of that. That a pretty hefty investment, but it was necessary in order to keep up the market trends. I’m proud to say that we can make a complete product in a tight deadline with no help from external staff and in smaller number of copies”, Robert explains.

Craft Knjigoprint provides services such as binding diploma theses, digital print, hardcover, paper cover, printing and plotting posters, printing and production of pricelists, making folders, visiting cards, flyers, photocopying, making archive folders and diploma tubes. For a number of years they specialised in archive folders. They were ordered by the National and University Library in Zagreb, that has received international awards for its document archiving solutions.

According to Robert, they plan to continue keeping up with market trends, maintain their competitive edge, purchase a new PVC stickers machine and possibly opening another shop. That would enable them to offer an even faster and better service to their clients which include almost all faculties, institutes, different companies, graphic designers, students and physical entities.

A successful blend of old and modern technologies with the aim of preserving their family tradition is what make this craft so special.
