Paprenjak

Sanja Paprenjak is the project initiator and owns the Paprenjak brand. The novel “Zlatarevo zlato” (The Goldsmith’s Gold) inspired her to start her own business in 1997. Every day Magda “Paprenjača” would paprenjak biscuits in front of the church in order to provide for her family.
About

That’s how Sanja’s idea to produce these sweet-peppery biscuits, a Croatian product and one of Zagreb’s most recognisable souvenirs, came to life.

“In its initial stages entrepreneurship is based on enthusiasm and inspiration, while later on it develops in combination with established business models. The most important this it to allow business-savvy individuals who know how to keep track of the economy and economic policy to manage business activities”, Sanja says.

Paprenjak’s offer includes: Paprenjak: ORIGINAL, LAVANDER, CHOCOLATE, WHOLE GRAIN AND CAROB. They can be purchased in 150 g, 200g bags or wrapped individually. Biscuit supplement called Medena priča (Honey Story) is a special product that fosters interaction. If you use it and follow the instructions at Paprenjak website, you can have a go at making your very own biscuits. In addition to biscuits, craft Paprenjak offer tea mixtures: Folk tea, Urban and Achoo, as well as tablecloths and chinaware adorned with Paprenjak motifs.

Products are available in wholesale or you can buy them at Paprenjak store located in Hotel Esplanade. They’re also available as souvenirs in numerous shops. Tourists, especially ones from the Far East, have heard stories about this Croatian biscuit and they come well-informed and interested, Sanja says.

Craft Paprenjak has business plans that include continually expanding their product range within project Paprenjak, maintaining the craft’s business volume as a small enterprise.
