Hairstyle as a reflection of your personality and style

Autor ZagrebCrafts / Tagovi

It doesn’t matter if you’re into short or long hair, the single most important rule is that hair looks best when it’s healthy, shiny and taken care of. The city’s oldest hair salons have been taking care of their clients’ distinguished look for decades now.

Hair salon Kincl was opened by Rudolf and Branka Kincl in 1937 and the salon was located in 8 Praška Street. They had been winning first places at world hair competitions since day one. The second generation of hairdressers in the family also followed in their footsteps. Their daughter Vesna Murtić mirrored her mother’s success and became European and world champion in 1957 and 1958. The World Hairdressing Organization (OMC) and the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts recognised Vesna Murtić and her work by presenting her with a lifetime achievement award in 2011.

After she retired, the hair salon “Kincl” employees continued their work by moving to the salon’s current address at 3 Lang Square. Marijana Habijanec took over the salon. She won first place at the national hairdresser and beautician competition in 2007 and 2009 and has won numerous other awards at hair competitions. Hair salon “Kincl” has been proclaimed non-tangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia because of their quality, outstanding string of success and 80 years of business operation. “We’re keeping up the same pace. We’ve always had a knack for all kinds of hair styles ranging from classic, traditional, ethnographic to modern and trendy ones” Marijana Habijanec says. The salon utilises the very best hair dying and hair care products. They are particularly proud of their option that can help any student get a great hair style at a more affordable price – 30% discount on all services. You qualify for the discount if you present a valid student ID card or student’s transcript (indeks).

The oldest men’s hair salon is located at 146 Ilica Street. The salon occupies about 30 square metres. When you walk in, you’ll be welcomed by a retro ambiance and Ivan Prgomet’s warm broad smile. He’s been working for 52 years and during that time he’s become a favourite for quite a few clients.

Mr Prgomet has received a recognition of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts who awarded him with the “Golden Hand” statues, which is the highest recognition given out by the craftsmen of Zagreb. Years of hard work and devotion, unrivalled expertise and skilfulness are just some of the things behind the prize’s golden shine. You’ll only realise what a traditional hairdresser’s craft and true skills are when you see him in action. Football legends Stjepan Diverić and Slaven Zambata as well as other famous people who truly recognise Ivan’s skills have been regular customers for years. If you’re looking for the very best hairdresser, hair salon “Kincl” at 3 Lang Square and men’s hairdresser Ivan Prgomet at 146 Ilica Street are definitely the right choice!
