The sounds of jingle bells, the smells of medenjaci, mulled wine and fritule are the telltale signs that yet another Advent in Zagreb has kicked off. This is a spectacular event that has been proclaimed the best manifestation of its kind of Europe for three consecutive years by visitors of the tourist portal European Best Destinations. It started on 1st December and it will last until 6th January 2019. This year particular emphasis is placed on cultural events that will put Zagrebers and their guests in the holiday mood and the anticipation of Christmas.

Apart from familiar events and locations from previous years, the organisers have rolled out some novelties, too.

One of them is “Advent in Maksimir” in cooperation with the Zoo. It guarantees fun for the entire family. “Movie Advent” in cinema Europa, where they will show Christmas movies for people of all ages and stages, is another novelty, while Prolaz sestara Baković is turned into an ideal set for shooting Christmas movies.

In addition to that, “Advent Stara Tkalča” is this year’s new attraction and it showcases traditional crafts and the essence of Gradec and Koptol, Zagreb’s oldest settlements.

Zagreb’s craftsmen and their products are here this year too in order to give you the true vibe of Zagreb. Their booths offer wonderful presents, souvenirs, Christmas ornaments, Licitar hearts, jewellery, traditional clothing items, paintings and a rich food selection.

Craftsmen featured at Zagreb Crafts are among them; namely, Sounds Mini and Tomica Marica.

Sounds Mini is famous for miniature music instruments and stages that compel the attention of both younger and older generations. Apart from the recognisable Licitars, the offer of craft Tomica Marica includes classic medenjaci, as well as aromatised ones with orange, lemon, cinnamon, hazelnut, ginger, apricot flavour and with chocolate glazing.
